Windermere
Elevation: 859 m (2863 ft)
Interesting Note: Windermere is home to the famous Stolen Church. Rufus Kimpton stole it from Donald, after he & his wife moved to Windermere. His wife missed it so much, he dismantled it & moved it to its present location.
Windermere explodes with life in the summer months. The community is primarily
cottage country with the majority of the population made up of residents who have
second or weekend homes, and is serviced by a grocery store, postal outlet and
along the highway there are gasoline outlets.
Windermere has become a popular spot for fishing, sail boarding, hang-gliding,
swimming, water skiing and golf. There are numerous options for dinner out and
entertainment and recreation, such as bowling or a challenging round of golf
at the nearby 18-hole golf course.
Windermere Beach is the perfect location for a picnic and kids can expend their
energy in the playground if swimming isn't to their liking. Also, be sure to
stop by the "artisans corner" during the spring to fall lake season,
at the only four-way stop in the community.
